United States Ambassador to Turkey and Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack (pictured) said on Sunday that it's a necessity for Syria and Lebanon to reach peace deals with Israel.

"This is a misunderstanding about territorial claims. So I hope that there will be a discussion, a dialogue between Syria and Israel. The same goes for Lebanon and Israel," Barrack said. "It's a necessity to have an agreement with Israel," he added.

The ambassador also stated that he believes there will be a ceasefire agreement in Gaza in the "near future," adding that the US has the "right team" for this. "Once the ceasefire is achieved, progress will be made, in small steps, first towards non-conflict with Israel," Barrack noted.
