The Pentagon has confirmed the deployment of a terminal high-altitude area defense (THAAD) system to Israel, along with American troops to operate it.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin authorized sending the system, which is designed to intercept and destroy ballistic missiles as talks continue between the US and Israel regarding a possible military action against Iran.

Pentagon press secretary Pat Ryder stated the deployment aims to bolster Israel's air defenses.
