Zelensky says only Ukrainians can make him resign
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told Fox News's Bret Baier that only the Ukrainian people could force him to step down. This was in response to Republican Senator Lindsey Graham's call for Zelensky's resignation after his tense meeting with United States President Donald Trump.
"I was always ready [to step down to sign a peace deal], I'm not sure that it's a good idea," Zelensky said, though he added that if the US would support Ukraine's NATO membership, he thought it would be "enough for Ukraine" as he felt he did all he "had to do."
Additionally, he commented that if someone wasn't happy with him, "that's okay," but as "Americans vote for the American president, each European country votes for their president," and only Ukrainians can vote for their president.
