US ambassador to Ukraine to allegedly resign
United States Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink plans to resign from her position early, CBS reported on Thursday, citing three sources.
According to the report, Brink has not submitted her resignation formally yet, but one senior US official reportedly told CBS that she intends to leave her post due to "an unusual mix of personal and policy concerns" that include the recent US Agency for International Development (USAID) layoffs. The report also stated that Brink is stationed far away from her family, as Kiev is designated as an unaccompanied post.
Brink was appointed the US envoy to Kiev in 2022 by former US President Joe Biden and reportedly submitted her resignation papers in January during the transition between the two administrations, but US Secretary of State Marco Rubio declined her resignation.
