United States President Donald Trump nudged Jonathan Morrison, who was formerly an Apple Inc. executive, to lead the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a Senate filing showed on Wednesday.
During Trump's first term, Morrison acted as the chief counsel at the NHTSA. The nomination comes amid probes into Tesla Inc.'s self-driving technology.
Trump's victory in 2024 was marked, amongst other things, by reports claiming that his administration would be more lenient when it comes to rules about self-driving vehicles.
