Trump inks China tariff modification
The White House issued a statement to confirm that United States President Donald Trump signed the temporary reduction of the tariff rate on imports from China following the newest agreement between the two countries.
In the official document, Trump noted that the decision to reduce the counter-tariff on China's exports came after the parties engaged in dialogue "to address the lack of trade reciprocity in our economic relationship and our resulting national and economic security concerns." He underscored that China's willingness to negotiate marked a "significant step" to "remedying non-reciprocal trade arrangements and addressing the concerns of the United States relating to economic and national security matters."
Following their recent trade negotiations in Geneva, the US and China agreed to temporarily lower their tariffs on one another to 30% and 10%, respectively.
