Toyota's global sales jump 10% in April
Toyota Motor Corporation revealed on Thursday that its global sales, including Toyota, Daihatsu and Hino, increased by 10.0% in April on an annual basis to reach 876,864 units. Sales in Japan alone improved by 28.9%, while foreign sales rose by 9.2% compared to the corresponding month a year earlier.
According to the company's release, global production rose by 7.8% on a yearly basis, standing at 814,787 units. Output in the home country increased by 6.9%, and added 8.2% outside of Japan. Exports rose by 6% in the fourth month of 2025 on an annualized basis to 179,560 vehicles.
The car manufacturer indicated it won't transfer the tariff expenses to American customers, though industry experts suggest the firm may need to reconsider if the increased tax continues indefinitely. US President Donald Trump implemented an additional 25% import duty on vehicles manufactured outside the US on April 3.
