Swiss unemployment rate at 2.8% in March

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Switzerland rose to 2.8% in March compared to the previous month, according to a report by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) released on Friday.

The seasonally adjusted number of unemployed people rose by 2.7% month-on-month to 128,774 in the reported month. Meanwhile, the number of unemployed youth declined by 3.1% on a monthly basis to 11,712. The figure increased by 23.2% on an annual basis.

The total number of job seekers in the country reached 212,390 in March, which was 309 fewer than in the previous month, while the job seeker rate remained at 4.6%. In the same month, the number of reported vacancies rose by 5.6% from January to 45,530, which was 4.2% less than in the same period in 2024.
