German Chancellor Olaf Scholz reiterated on Monday his country will send additional military assistance to Ukraine in what he described as a "message from Kiev to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin" as Moscow continues its campaign.

"We're in this for the long haul," Scholz tweeted. "Our support for Ukraine will not waiver. We will stand by the Ukrainian people - for as long as it takes."

Scholz's written comments came amid his surprise visit to Kiev, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Previously, Zelensky urged the chancellor and Germany to consolidate its support for Kiev in 2025.
