The Manhattan District Attorney’s office said on Tuesday that while it agrees to delay United States President-elect Donald Trump's hush money case sentencing, it will be contesting his request for the case to be dropped.

In a letter to Judge Juan Merchan, the DA called Trump's arguments "incorrect." Previously, Trump asked for the case to be dismissed, insisting that he has "legal immunity from criminal prosecution based on his current status as President-elect."

"No current law establishes that a president’s temporary immunity from prosecution requires dismissal of a post-trial criminal proceeding that was initiated at a time when the defendant was not immune from criminal prosecution and that is based on official conduct for which the defendant is also not immune," the DA argued in the letter.
