Erdogan reaffirms Turkey's support for Syria
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated on Monday his country's unwavering support for Syria's territorial integrity and unity as the new regime took power there.
In a televised address, Erdogan went on to accuse Israel of seeking to undermine the overthrowing of former President Bashar al-Assad by its occupation of the Golan Heights. Still, he warned that "[e]ven if Israel is acting opportunistically, sooner or later it will have to withdraw from the lands it occupies."
Furthermore, Erdogan took a firm stance against terrorism, saying that any group operating in Syria, including the Islamic State (IS) or the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), will be eliminated.
