Europe closes mostly higher with geopolitics in focus
Major stock market indexes in Europe closed mostly with gains on Monday as investors assessed the impact of recent geopolitical developments in the Middle East and the toppling of the long-lived regime of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and its consequences for the region.
The FTSE 100 rose 0.56% after Vistry Group PLC surged 6.05%. The CAC 40 added 0.81% and the Euro Stoxx 50 gained 0.15% with LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE increasing 3.52% on both indexes. Meanwhile, the DAX traded flat.
The euro strengthened 0.12% against the dollar, selling for 1.05792 at 5:29 pm CET. At the same time, the pound sterling was 0.39% stronger against the dollar to sell for 1.27905 a minute later.
