Chief of the General Staff of the Estonian Defense Forces, Vahur Karus, said on Wednesday that Estonia plans to set up a military base in the city of Narva near the border with Russia.

"It is planned to permanently place units in Narva and normalize their daily presence in the city," the Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR) quoted Karus as saying.

The base will operate under a rotation system, with various units and more than 200 military staff at a time in the initial stage.
