China almost instantly fired back at the United States after President Donald Trump's 10% tariff on goods from China came into effect, announcing it was imposing counter-tariffs on some US products starting February 10.

Beijing said it would hit the US with a 15% tariff on coal and liquified natural gas (LNG) products, as well as a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural machinery and large-displacement cars. China's Ministry of Commerce also announced its decision on export control of tungsten-related items and added PVH Corp. and Illumina Inc. to its list of unreliable entities.

Furthermore, China's State Administration for Market Regulation declared that it is launching an investigation into Google on suspicion of antitrust violations. The announcement came just moments after Trump's tariffs took effect.
