Bitcoin hits record $109K with Trump's inauguration in focus
Bitcoin, the world's leading cryptocurrency, surged to a new all-time high of over $109,000 during Monday's early hours, fueled by global investor anticipation ahead of the inauguration of United States President-elect Donald Trump.
Trump's largely pro-crypto agenda has been a key catalyst for Bitcoin's rally since his reelection, with its price up by 125% in 2024 alone. The cryptocurrency now commands over 60% of the total market share, its highest dominance since 2021. Meanwhile, the TRUMP coin skyrocketed as much as 67% after being listed on Robinhood's trading platform.
Bitcoin surged 7.87% to sell at $109,358.01 at 1:55 am ET. Ethereum followed the trend, jumping 6.54% to trade at $3,425.0900.
