Asia trades higher as US court blocks Trump's tariffs
Asia-Pacific markets traded higher on Thursday, after the United States Court of International Trade ruled that US President Donald Trump overstepped his authority with his "Liberation Day" reciprocal tariffs.
Additionally, South Korea's central bank slashed its key rate by 25 basis points, bringing it down to 2.50%, its lowest level since August 2022.
South Korea's Kospi gained 1.71% at 4:20 am CET, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 0.50% at 04:21 am CET and Japan's Nikkei 225 jumped 1.65% at 4:22 am CET. In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite rose by 0.59% and the Shenzhen Composite increased by 0.93% at 4:23 am CET. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.26% at 4:24 am CET.
The dollar traded 0.64% higher against the yen at 4:25 am CET, selling for 145.79000.
