Each business area is offering materials and solutions that are at the cutting edge of new technological developments and essential to everyday life. The company dedicates most of its R& D efforts to clean technologies, such as emission control catalysts, materials for rechargeable batteries and photovoltaics, fuel cells, and recycling. The Umicore Group has industrial operations on all continents and serves a global customer base. The historical roots of Umicore go back more than 200 years and the Group in its current form is the result of the coming together of a number of mining and smelting companies which gradually evolved into the materials-technology company Umicore is today. Umicore SA is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.
