US opens shortened Friday session with gains
Major stock indexes in the United States traded in the green at the start of a shortened session on Friday, as markets are set to close at 1:00 pm ET. Investors will monitor retailers' stock movement closely as massive shopping volumes are expected due to Black Friday discounts. Additionally, traders assessed the latest report on personal consumption expenditures (PCE), the Federal Reserve's key inflation indicator, released earlier in the week.
The Dow Jones improved by 0.19% or 84 points and the S&P 500 added 0.11% at the open, as Lam Research Corporation pushed both indices higher with a 3.65% rise. The Nasdaq 100 advanced by 0.12% with Caterpillar Inc. jumping 1.86%.
The euro was flat compared to the dollar at 9:29 am ET, changing hands at $1.05493.
