Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday that he talked to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte about joint next steps in resolving the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and the need to "put pressure" on Moscow, including with "coordinated decisions" regarding sanctions.

"We also discussed sanctions that can actually affect Russia. It is important that all decisions are coordinated. Then the sanctions will work. Without pressure on Moscow, a just peace cannot be achieved. Everyone understands this," Zelensky stated.

The Ukrainian president previously thanked the European Union and the United Kingdom for imposing new sanctions and continuing to pressure Russia, expressing hope that the US would do the same.
