United States National Security Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby made comments on Thursday about potential drone sightings in and around New Jersey, stressing that there is no evidence so far that would suggest national security is under threat.

The Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have been monitoring the situation "using numerous detection methods," Kirby explained during a press conference, insisting that there are no "reported or confirmed drone sightings in any restricted airspace."

He added that "upon review of available imagery, it appears that many of the reported sightings are actually manned aircraft that are being operated lawfully."
