United States President-elect Donald Trump criticized automation on US docks, calling for greater support for American workers.

In a Truth Social post, Trump revealed a meeting with Harold Daggett, president of the International Longshoremen's Association, and Dennis Daggett, the union's executive vice president. He expressed concerns about foreign companies prioritizing automation, arguing that the money they save doesn't justify the harm it causes to longshoremen and their families.

"I've studied automation, and know just about everything there is to know about it," Trump said. "They've got record profits, and I'd rather these foreign companies spend it on the great men and women on our docks, than machinery, which is expensive, and which will constantly have to be replaced," he added.
