US, UAE talk 'persisting, emerging threats' in Middle East
United States President Joe Biden and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, discussed Monday what they defined as "the threats to peace and stability in the Middle East and the wider region."
According to the White House statement, both leaders discussed the war in Gaza, other security issues in the region, and the role of both countries in achieving peace. "They underscored their commitment to continue working together towards ending the conflict, calling for a lasting and sustainable ceasefire," the White House said.
Moreover, the meeting underscored initiatives such as the US-UAE Partnership for Accelerating Clean Energy and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, which aims to boost infrastructure connectivity. Biden and bin Zayed also committed to collaborative investments in space exploration and critical infrastructure, including renewable energy projects in Africa.
