US President Donald Trump officially swore in David Perdue as the new ambassador to the People's Republic of China during a ceremony at the White House on Wednesday.

When speaking to reporters afterward, Trump dismissed reducing the 145% tariffs on China to get the country to the negotiating table. When asked about potential tariff exemptions, he replied: "I don't know."
