United States President Donald Trump is expected to pardon his supporters convicted of nonviolent offenses linked to the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, and commute the sentences of others convicted of more serious crimes, CNN reported on Monday, citing multiple sources briefed on the matter.

According to the sources, the Department of Justice is also anticipated to act in court to dismiss cases that have not yet been tried.

Trump is expected to sign an executive order later in the day.
