SpaceX's Starship explodes, debris seen over Bahamas
SpaceX's eighth Starship test flight saw mixed results, as the company managed to pull off a repeat of the Super Heavy booster catch for the third time but lost contact with the upper stage which spiraled out of control roughly eight minutes into the flight, only for the spacecraft's debris to be spotted over the Bahamas shortly afterward, according to social media footage.
The spacecraft experienced what the company called a "rapid unscheduled disassembly," exploding for the second consecutive time during a test flight, after another such explosion occurred nearly two months ago. "Our team immediately began coordination with safety officials to implement pre-planned contingency responses," the company added, vowing to review the data obtained from the flight test.
