The United States military base in Qatar, the Al-Udeid base, was hit by short- and medium-range ballistic missiles, a US defense official told CNN on Monday.

"At this time, there are no reports of US casualties. We are monitoring this situation closely and will provide more information as it becomes available," the official commented.

Previously, Iran launched its counterattack against various US bases in the region, responding to Washington's strikes on its nuclear infrastructure.
