Rubio: Priority is safer, stronger, prosperous US
United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio laid out on Wednesday his department's agenda for the next four years, aiming to make the US "safer, stronger and more prosperous." He said the State Department must become "more innovative, nimble, and focused," which includes scrapping some issues emphasized by the Biden administration.
Rubio said the department will no longer "facilitate or encourage mass migration" and will focus on immigration in diplomatic relations with other countries. Diversity hiring programs and focus on "divisive" political and cultural issues will be eliminated, while climate policies will focus on energy dominance. Rubio added that the State Department will stop "censorship and suppression of information" and enact policies that aim to "terminate any programs that in any way lead to censoring the American people."
