Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told ABC on Monday that "taking out" Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei wouldn't escalate the conflict between Israel and Iran, but "end it."

During an interview, Netanyahu was asked whether his country will target Khamenei, to which he replied that Israel is "doing what we need to do," and refused to give further details, other than to confirm that Iranian nuclear scientists and ballistic missile manufacturing facilities are being targeted.

The Israeli prime minister did not confirm the reports that United States President Donald Trump rejected Israel's plan to eliminate Khamenei, but said that Iran is "bringing us to the brink of nuclear war" and that his country is "preventing the most terrific war imaginable."
