Milei said to be pondering exit from Paris Agreement
Argentina's President Javier Milei is reportedly considering withdrawing Buenos Aires from the Paris climate agreement, a source informed The Washington Post on Thursday.
This week, Argentina's president pulled the country's delegation from the ongoing COP29 United Nations climate summit in Baku, Azerbaijan, raising uncertainty about Buenos Aires' commitment to the Paris Climate Accord.
President-elect Donald Trump previously described the Paris Agreement as "the greatest rip-off," pledging to withdraw the United States from the accord for the second time. During his first term as president, Trump made the United States the first country to exit the climate deal. The potential decision to pull Argentina out of the accord would signal Milei's strong support for Trump's policies.
