German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and United States President Donald Trump agreed on Thursday to discuss how they could jointly contribute to bringing the war in Ukraine to an end.
"America is, again, in a very strong position to do something on this war and end this war ... We are ready to do what we can," Merz told Trump in the Oval Office while surrounded by journalists, adding that the European Union will continue to support Kiev and is seeking more pressure on Russia.
Recalling the truce deal being signed between Pakistan and India, Trump said that he hopes the same thing happens to Russia and Ukraine. "At some point, it will happen. I believe that," the US president commented.
