Lavrov and Rubio discuss Istanbul peace talks
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed the latest round of Russian-Ukrainian talks during a phone call on Saturday, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement.
Both diplomats welcomed the Istanbul negotiations and said they were ready to keep working toward a peaceful resolution in Ukraine, according to Moscow.
Rubio supported the agreements on a prisoner exchange and plans by both sides to outline conditions for a ceasefire. Meanwhile, Lavrov said the US had played a "constructive role" in getting Ukraine to resume dialogue and confirmed Russia's openness to further cooperation with Washington on the matter.
