Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is pressing for NATO membership or a clear security structure in its place.

"If we cannot be accepted to NATO, we need some clear structure of security guarantees from our allies in the US," Zelensky stated. He emphasized that Europe is ready to help fund Ukraine's army, but that the US must take the lead in defining security commitments.

He urged the US to take a firm stance against Russia, adding, "All Ukrainians want to hear a strong US position on our side."
