Japan's industrial output down 1.1% in January

Japan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index recorded a monthly decrease of 1.1% to settle at 100.5 in January, according to the preliminary report published by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) on Friday. At the same time, the figure advanced by 2.6% compared to the same month of the year prior.

Meanwhile, the shipments index fell 1.5% on a monthly basis and stood at 98.5 but increased 2% on an annual level. The inventories index landed at 101.5, rising 0.9% month-on-month while adding 0.5% compared to the same month of 2024.

The inventory ratio went up slightly, growing 0.3% in January to reach 106.7 and jumping 1.1% annually.
