Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Monday that its attack on a compound in the Nuseirat area in the central Gaza Strip targeted Hamas operatives that the army said were in control of that compound.

"Earlier today, the IDF and Shin Bet attacked terrorists from the Hamas terrorist organization who were in a command and control compound in the Nusirat area in the central Gaza Strip. The terrorists used the compound to plan and execute terrorist plots against IDF forces and citizens of the State of Israel," the Israeli military said in a post on its Telegram channel.

Palestinian media previously reported that the Israeli forces struck a school that was being used as shelter for displaced people from Gaza, and allegedly killed at least nine people.
