The annual inflation rate in France stood at 1.7% in January, climbing from 1.3% recorded in the prior month, the country's statistical office INSEE revealed in its final report on Tuesday, revising the preliminary report which recorded an annual inflation rate of 1.4%. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.2% compared to December.

The annual increase in consumer prices was mainly attributed to the rise in the price of services by 2.5% and in the energy prices by 2.7%, as well as the prices of manufactured products rebounding after the previous month and increasing by 0.2% year-on-year.

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) declined by 0.2% on a monthly basis, but advanced by 1.8% on an annual basis.
