French government spokesperson Sophie Primas said on Thursday that France will respond to United States President Donald Trump's new tariffs along with the European Union, noting that digital services could be targeted in the reciprocal measures.
"We will continue to talk over Trump tariffs. There will likely be a first response in mid-April and then another one in late April," Primas said, claiming that France is "ready in this trade war" and warning that the US tariffs will have a "recessionary impact" in some areas.
French President Emmanuel Macron previously announced a meeting with representatives from the industries affected by Trump's 20% tariff on goods from the European Union.
