Russian President Vladimir Putin ensured on Tuesday that his country is making great efforts to prevent a major war from breaking out in the Middle East region.

"Russia is making active efforts to prevent the current escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict from escalating into a major war in the Middle East," Putin said at the ceremony of presentations of credentials of new ambassadors to Russia.

Furthermore, the Russian head of state emphasized that the implementation of the two-state solution is the only path leading to lasting peace in the region.
