Asia-Pacific mixed amid data, trade issues

Major stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region traded mixed on Tuesday as investors assessed the latest reports on Japanese consumer confidence and factory activity, as well as Chinese and Australian manufacturing sector data.

In politics, trade talks between the United States and Japan drew traders' attention after US President Donald Trump signaled a possible failure of trade negotiations between the two countries.

Japan's Nikkei 225 lost 0.99% at 7:22 am CET, and South Korea's Kospi rose by 1.21%, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 increased by 0.10% at 7:23 am CET. In mainland China, the Shenzhen Composite traded flat at 7:24 am CET, and the Shanghai Composite advanced by 0.23%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng was closed due to the Special Administrative Region Establishment Day.

The dollar fell by 0.25% compared to the yen at 7:25 am CET and went for ¥143.66850.
