Anna Wintour decided to step down after nearly 40 years as editor-in-chief of the American fashion magazine Vogue, the magazine’s publisher Conde Nast told US media on Thursday.

However, Wintour will continue on as Vogue global editorial director and Conde Nast chief content officer, supervising all its brands, including Vanity Fair, Wired, GQ, and others.

According to US media, the fashion magazine's publisher will not seek an editor-in-chief to replace Wintour at American Vogue, but instead a head of editorial content, a title used for all recently installed international editors.
