Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed on Monday that the collapse of President Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria was due to the absence of Russian troops, who are all engaged in fighting in Ukraine.

"We see that the Assad regime has fallen," Zelensky said ahead of the meeting with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal, noting that this was not only due to the efforts of rebel forces and their supporters but also because "there are no real Russian troops there."

According to Zelensky, nearly 800,000 Russian troops are in Ukraine. "This means that the entire army of a great pseudo-empire is fighting against the Ukrainian people," Zelensky underlined, warning that Russia would regain its position in Syria and other nations if Ukraine were to fall.
