Ukraine's deputy ambassador to Ireland Dmytro Shchedrin said Thursday that prosecuting the "crime of aggression" is a "moral imperative," stressing the need to hold Russia accountable in a potential post-war scenario.

According to The Guardian, Shchedrin warned that growing geopolitical divisions threaten international unity, which he called "essential to ensuring that peace and justice ultimately prevail." He also stressed that once a ceasefire or peace deal is reached, establishing a "special tribunal for the crime of aggression" must be a priority.

His remarks came as Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to visit Ireland today on his way to the US to finalize a deal with US President Donald Trump on Ukraine's rare earth minerals. The Ukrainian president will meet Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin at Shannon Airport.
