US producer prices up 0.2% in December

The United States Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand on a seasonally adjusted basis increased by 0.2% in December compared to the month before, the Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed in its report on Tuesday. The figure fell short of analysts' expectations.

The unadjusted final demand index for the 12 months ending in December rose by 3.3%. The index for final demand services was unchanged in the reported month, while final demand goods prices climbed by 0.6% on a monthly basis.

The PPI excluding foods, energy, and trade services was up by 0.1% in December compared to November's figure and jumped by 3.3% in 2024.
