US opens mostly higher ahead of Fed's minutes
Major stock market indexes in the United States opened mostly higher on Tuesday after cooling off from the previous day's gains and amid the talks about President-elect Donald Trump's prospective tariffs on other countries and their impact. Investors also assessed the monthly and annual rises in house prices, and awaited the minutes from the Federal Open Market Committee's (FOMC) last meeting, hoping to catch an indication of the agency's next monetary policy decision.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 0.27% or 118 points as Amgen Inc. slumped by 9.59% at 9:32 am ET. On the other hand, the Nasdaq 100 grew by 0.32%, with Analog Devices Inc. garnering 3.25% at 9:32 am ET. The S&P 500 increased by 0.23% as JM Smucker Company jumped by 8.44% at 9:33 am ET.
The euro went up by 0.10% against the dollar at 9:28 am ET to sell for $1.05031.
