US consumer confidence improves in June

The Consumer Sentiment Index in the United States surged 15.9% in June compared to the month prior, to stand at 60.5, a preliminary report posted by the University of Michigan showed on Friday. The figure slid 11.3% on an annual level.

The Current Economic Conditions Index advanced by 8.1% in the reported period compared to May and lost 3.3% compared to June 2024, amounting to 63.7 points. The Index of Consumer Expectations jumped 21.9% on a monthly basis, but was down 16.1% on a yearly basis, coming in at 58.4.

"Year-ahead inflation expectations plunged from 6.6% last month to 5.1% this month. Long-run inflation expectations fell for the second straight month, stepping down from 4.2% in May to 4.1% in June," it was mentioned in the report.
