US closes lower as tariffs' impact sinks in
Major stock market indexes in the United States closed lower on Tuesday as investors continued to assess how the tariffs President Donald Trump imposed on Canada, China, and Mexico would impact the companies trading and their businesses.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average slid by 1.55% or 669 points as The Boeing Company plunged by 6.56%. The Nasdaq 100 declined by 0.36%, with Intel Corporation plummeting by 6.20%. The S&P 500 decreased by 1.22%, having now erased more than $3 trillion since Election Day, as Best Buy Company sank by 13.30%.
The euro increased by 1.21% against the dollar at 3:58 pm ET to sell for $1.06094.
