United States President Donald Trump is set to issue a public health order that will label migrants at the US border with Mexico as "risks for spreading diseases" in an effort to restrict immigration, CNN reported on Wednesday, citing three sources familiar with the discussions.

The new order may be issued "as soon as this week," and the discussions have referenced measles and tuberculosis, according to the sources cited in the report. The Texas Department of State Health Services reported an outbreak of measles yesterday in the South Plains region of Texas, with 58 cases identified with symptoms appearing in the past three weeks.

In order for the public health order to be implemented by the US Department of Homeland Security, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention would first have to determine whether there is a threat of a communicable disease being spread from Mexico to the US and whether the order is necessary.
