Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto underlined on Monday that the European Union and European leaders, who have been "attacking" Hungary for its "pro-peace stance, for three years," must not "hinder the success of the peace negotiations" between Ukraine and Russia.

"For our part, we continue to support [United States President] Donald Trump's peace efforts with all our strength and hope that the peace talks will lead to an early ceasefire and then to a comprehensive peace agreement," he wrote in a post on Facebook.

Earlier today, Trump held phone conversations with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Following the calls, the US head of state revealed that the two countries will commence peace discussions "immediately."
