Stellantis NV announced on Thursday that it will partner with German chipmaker Infineon Technologies AG to collaborate on the next generation of the power architecture of the Dutch carmaker's electric vehicles.

The two companies signed multiple supply and capacity agreements to support their cooperation. These include replacing traditional fuses with Infineon's smart power switches, improving the performance of Stellantis' electric vehicles by implementing silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors and using Infineon's microcontrollers that target Stellantis' intelligent power network. The companies also plan to continue their collaboration by implementing a Joint Power Lab to work on the scalable and intelligent power architecture that will enable Stellantis' software-driven vehicle.

"As outlined in our strategic plan, Dare Forward 2030, we are securing the supply of crucial semiconductor solutions required to continue our transition to an electrified future leveraging innovative E/E architectures for our next-generation platforms," Stellantis' Chief Purchasing and Supplier Quality Officer Maxime Picat said.
