Speaker Johnson: We will codify DOGE cuts
United States House Speaker Mike Johnson said on Thursday that the US administration will achieve "the largest amount of savings in the history of government" with the recently passed domestic policy bill, adding that the administration "will codify the DODGE [the Department of Government Efficiency] cuts."
In an interview with Fox News, Johnson stated that "the Doge oversight will become permanent" in the US government, and insisted that the bill will reduce the country's deficit, "if you do the math right."
Johnson's comments come after billionaire Elon Musk, the head of DOGE, said he was disappointed by "the massive spending bill "and announced that his time serving as a special government employee had come to an end.
