Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated on Tuesday that Russia is preparing for a prolonged confrontation with the United States.

Citing a "bipartisan anti-Russia consensus" in Washington, Ryabkov stressed that Russia is ready for an extended standoff. "We need to prepare for a prolonged confrontation with this country. We are ready for this in every sense," Ryabkov told reporters.

Moreover, the Russian representative highlighted the need for a realistic approach to US-Russian relations, especially before the November US elections.
